            Valentine Pears

 

 1/2 cup + 3 tbspns granulated sugar

 2/3 cup + 2 tbspns water

 2/3 cup + 2 tbspns red wine

 zest from 1 lime

 zest from 1 orange

 2 cinnamon sticks

 4 cloves

 6 ripe pears, peeled

 6 oz. melted white chocolate

  • melt 6 ounces white chocolate in a double boiler

  • combine sugar and water in a separate saucepan over low heat

  • cook stirring until the sugar has dissolved

  • add the red wine, lime zest, orange zest, cinnamon sticks and cloves

  • simmer for 5 minutes

  • add pears and poach, covered, until pears are tender, approx 7 - 10 minutes

  • Remove Pears

  • Place pears on serving plates

  • Strain remaining syrup and pour over the pears

  • Drizzle white chocolate over the pears and serve

 

               Makes 6 Servings
