Mulled Wine, Tradition with a Twist

    2    lemons

    2    limes

    2    oranges

    1    750ml bottles of medium/full bodied red wine

    3    cardamon pods, lightly crushed (do not use powder)

    1    oz brandy or cognac

    1    cup granulated sugar

    4    large cinnamon sticks and candy canes for garnish

    nutmeg to taste

    cloves to taste

 

  • Cut fruit into slices.

  • Pour red wine into a stainless glass or crockery pot and heat gradually.

  • Add fruit slices, brandy (or cognac) and spices, stir gently.

  • Heat until hot. * DO NOT BOIL

  • Add sugar and stir until dissolved

  • Pour into mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick and candy cane.

 

    Makes 4 servings
